Feedback received for Gary Carter (page 1 of 1):

Gary Carter RIP. Success from 1992 - February 17th, 2012
In 1991 I mailed San Francisco Giants Catcher Gary Carter a LOR, and 1984 Topps Baseball Card to Candlestick Park. In those days an SASE was not required. In August 1992, I received an envelope from the LA Dodgers. Inside this envelope was a postcard signed by Gary Carter with a typed note indicating he could not sign a baseball card from 1984 to the present time because of an agreement he had made with the Leukemia Society of America, unless a $25 donation was made. Carter had signed with the Dodgers during the off-season. I was 11 when I wrote the letter and 12 when I received the response. Mr. Carter unfortunately passed away yesterday at the age of 57. A champion for cancer charities was taken as a result of the illness he fought so hard to raise funds for. Mr. Carter, I would like to express my sincerest thanks to you for taking time to send a 12 year old kid an autographed postcard of yourself who greatly looked up to you as a player. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/16/carter2m.jpg
